Finding the Magic
in the Grey
Hi, I’m Oleg Kuzmin, an Amsterdam-based photographer.
I fell in love with Amsterdam through early-morning walks. Before the city wakes, even its busiest streets and canals become still. Familiar places feel intimate and almost unrecognisable — briefly separated from the movement and noise of the day.
My photography tries to preserve that tranquillity: the timeless character of Amsterdam, the architectural memory of old Europe, and the quiet transformations brought by fog, rain, snow, and changing light. I think of this approach as neopictorialism—using modern digital photography to pursue atmosphere, emotion, and memory rather than clinical sharpness.
When I am not walking through the city with my camera, I am usually tending my garden and roses, looking for the same romance, stillness, and sense of season at home.
The greatest reward is knowing that one of my photographs has touched someone—that it has carried a little of this stillness and magic into their own life.
